Green Ochre

I recently pulled a few new handmixed colors and found a few good recipes.
This color was equal parts light ivory and light violet comes out to a green ochre.

Handblown Shells

I was recently inspired by the spring marine & aquatic issue of The Flow Magazine. There was an amazing photo of some shells made by Vittorio Costantini and I decided to make a few shells of my own. I was only planning to make a few but then I got hooked on making them :)

Handpulled Green

I occasionally pull my own colors but I never keep a record of them . I decided to start posting some results in the blog to have as a reference.

The left rod if moretti nile green, the right rod is moretti pea green. The middle rod is a hand mixed rod of pea green and periwinkle blue. I didn't measure the ratio of the colors that were using in the mixed rod but I will start to for future pulls.

Double Helix Colors

I have been able to start stockpiling more Double Helix glass rods lately (mostly seconds) and that means more playing with color combos :) I will try to regularly post successful combos that worked for me.
This focal has a base of moretti black with Terranova light dots that have been twisted.

This focal has black ends covered with Pysche, reduced and encased in moretti clear. The center ismoretti black with moretti light ivory dots and moretti light turquoise dots.

Lizard Paperweights

I've been recently trying to keep the paperweights a bit bigger as the normal size which has allowed me to fit two lizards on a paperweight :) Maybe an extra lizard will try to sneak on a future paperweight! These little guys are on Etsy.

New Wood Stand

I stopped by Home Depot recently and I found alder and poplar strips that I thought would look great glued together. The wood is finished with some natural danish oil and it really makes the alder pop! The paperweight is 1.25in diameter :)

Paperweights on Wooden Stands

I've been having a lot of fun making paperweights and wooden stands lately. The darker stands were made by my dad, however I will be picking up some darker stain later today :) I have a bunch of paperweights that are just waiting for the stands, so once those are done I will make another entry with those :)

Turtles

I've started working on a new series of turtle sculpture beads. Eventually I'll start working on other sea creatures like jellyfish, octopus and fish.

Turtle Family. This one is one of my favorites, there is an adult turtle and two baby turtles.

Reversed Snakeskin

I've been wanting to add silver foil to my snakeskin beads but I couldn't figure out how to add them to individual dots. Then I was reading a tutorial in The Flow magazine for a different technique but it hit me to do lines instead of dots! Here is the outcome :D
